Scholarship Opportunities:

Seniors need to complete their FAFSA applications by going to www.fafsa.gov as soon as possible. FAFSA has to be completed for Pell Grants, Scholarships and Student Loans.

Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Scholarship College Scholarship is now available. The scholarship is worth up to $40,000 to attend a four year college. See the school counselor for additional information.

Hagan Scholarships are being offered to achieving students who will require financial assistance in order to attend college. See the school counselor for more information.

Lake Mitchell H.O.B.O. Scholarships Applications are in the counselors office. Scholarships in the amount of $2,000 are available.

See the school counselor if you are intersted in attending Concordia College in Selma for students with a minimum 2.0 G.P.A., 16 on ACT or 800 on SAT.

AES Engineers is offering a $500 scholarship to seniors. The applicant must go to their web site at scholarships@aesengineers.com and complete an essay of 500-1000 words on the question: When you look back on your life in 30 years, what would it take for you to consider your life successful? What relationships or accomplishments will be important on this journey?

The Smith Scholarship Foundation will be accepting scholarship applications until December 1st for their progam which offers up to $15,000 a year in financial assistance plus opportunities to study abroad and professional training through their Internship Program. Applications are available in the school counselor's office.

Alabama FBLA-PBL Foundation Scholarship is awarding $1,000  per district for FBLA students. Applicant must be a paid member and graduating senior. Pick up a copy of the application in the counselor's office.

America's First Federal Credit Union and WBRC Fox 6 News are joining together to recognize "Rising Stars" in central Alabama. See Mrs. Long to have an opportunity to apply for one of the four $5,000 scholarships. Must have a 3.5 G.P.A. or higher and be involved in extra-curricular activities. See the school counselor to be recommended.

Horatio Alger Association is offering a scholarship program providing financial assistance to students throughout the nation who have financial need. Awards range from $7,000-$25,000. See the school counselor to pick up an application.

July 26-28th-New and Returning Student Registration-all parents/legal guardians will be required to complete registration papers for the 2016-17 school year.

July 26th-Senior Locker Rentals-Cost $10

July 26th-Senior Proof Books can be picked up at the school office.

August 8th-Orientation for K-12.

August 9th-First Day of School

August 12th-Band, Cheer, Football and Volleyball Pictures

August 16th-Order Senior Portraits. A representative from Bill Miller Photography will be on campus from 9-10:30 a.m.

August 16th-Back To School Bash at 6:00 p.m. in the school auditorium.

August 23rd-FASFA Senior Night Workshop for parents of seniors that plan on attending college after graduation. The workshop will be held in the school ACCESS Lab at 5:00 p.m. with the school counselor.

August 24th-Senior Portrait Remakes, if needed. Sitting fee of $25.

August 25th-Seniors will vote on Who's Who. See Mrs. Langston, if needed.

September 6th-A representative from Jacksonville State University will be on campus to meet with students that are interested in attending college there. Sign up in the counselor's office by August 31st.

September 7th-College and Career Fair at Jeff State in Clanton. Seniors will need to have parents sign their permission forms and turn them into the school counselor. Seniors should also take money for lunch and ice cream.

September 10th-ACT Test Date. See the school counselor for registration information and to pick up a free test booklet.

September 16th-Sign up deadline for 10-12th grade students wanting to take the ASVAB. Sign up in the counselor's office.

Homecoming Week-September 19th-23rd.

September 27th-Senior Portrait Orders from 9-10:00 a.m. A representative from Bill Miller Photography will be at the school to take orders.

September 28th-ASVAB Test will be administered for students in grades 10-12 that sign up by September 16th.

October 1st-FAFSA Application Assistance provided by the school counselor in the ACCESS Lab from 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

October 6th-Troy University Representative will visit Thorsby High School.

October 14th-Auburn Representative will visit Thorsby High School.

October 17th-Huntingdon College Representative will visit Thorsby High School.

October 21st-Senior Night for Band Members, Cheerleaders, Football Players and Volleyball Players during pre-game of the Keith v. THS Football Game. These seniors will be recognized with their parent(s)/guardian(s) at 6:30 p.m. Senior Night forms are available in the school office and should be completed and returned by October 19th.

October 31-November 4th-College Application Week!

Seniors need to turn in environmental and baby pictures along with senior ad pages to Natalee R., Rachel C. or Mrs. Langston as soon as possible in November. Contact Mrs. Langston if additional information is needed.

November 1st-College Career Fair-Boutwell Auditorium, Birmingham.

November 3rd-College Tours-Southern Union and Auburn University.

November 7th-Senior Supply Meeting during Rebel Time with a representative from Campus Recognition.

November 9th-Mr. and Miss THS and Good Citizenship pictures.

November 14th-Senior Supply Orders during Rebel Time with a representative from Campus Recognition.

January 6th-Bryant Jordan Scholar Athlete and Student Achievement Award Applications are due to the school counselor. All applications must be complete with all required attachments.

February 10th-Senior Cap and Gown Pictures.

April 7th-Prom

May 21st-Baccalaureate Services at Thorsby First Baptist Church at 3:00 p.m. Seniors wear Cap and Gown. No ticket required for admission. Seniors report to the church at 2:15 p.m.

May 22nd-Senior practice for Graduation and Honor's Day at 9:00 a.m. Graduation Tickets will be distributed to Seniors after practice.  Each Senior will receive 10 tickets for guest to attend graduation. Seniors wear everyday/casual dress for practice.

May 24th-Senior Honor's Day at 9:00 a.m. Seniors wear Cap and Gown. No ticket required for admission. Seniors report to the school library at 8:15 a.m.

May 25th-Graduation at 7:00 p.m. Seniors wear Cap and Gown. Ticket required for admission. Each Senior given 10 tickets on May 22nd for guest. Seniors report to the school library at 6:15 p.m.
